Weekly Ethereum Research Report (2026-05-11 ~ 2026-05-15)

TL;DR

Data Integrity Warning (LEVEL 3+ accumulated for 12 days): From 5/4~5/14, forkcast snapshots maintained a 246-item quota for 11 consecutive days while 1~4 EIPs rotated in/out daily (rotating snapshot drift). The EIP-5920 PAY opcode toggled 6 times over 11 days (average 1.8-day cycle). Hypothesis: the forkcast repo src/data/eips directory has more than 246 files, and a single GitHub /contents API call is truncated to the first ≈246, returning a different EIP set each day. Migration of scripts/fetch_forkcast.py to pagination (per_page=100 + page loop) or the Trees API (/git/trees/{sha}?recursive=1) has been delayed by 5 days. Forkcast citations in this section trust only results cross-verified across four sources: ACD call notes + GitHub commits + ethereum-magicians discussions + EF blog. The single-date diff looks small, but the daily toggle pattern was violent (5/11 EIP-4750/6110/6404/6466 returned + 6206 disappeared → 5/12 6110 disappeared again + 5920 appeared on both sides → 5/13 5450+5920 disappeared simultaneously + EOF 5 items → narrowed to 4 items → 5/14 5920/6466 both returned + 3-item window re-expanded). Looking only at diffs between the two ends of each week captures less than 1/10 of the truncate-window deviation. EL Peer Composition Drift Week-2 Measurement -- Quantitative Exposure of Client Diversity Metric Limits

  • Stereum Labs 36-node fleet analysis (5/12 12:13 UTC, stefa2k). On the same EC/CC + same hardware + same Reth release baseline: (a) Besu node Reth peer concentration ~75% → ~96% (+21%p / week 2), (b) ~96% versus Reth network share of ~12% = ~8x asymmetric over-representation, (c) Reth fleet connected peer ~123 → ~69 (-44%), (d) Reth fleet tracked peer table ~7,400 → ~2,506 (-66%).
